Hi John! The HW-T550 is compatible with any TV supporting HDMI ARC or digital optical audio. The soundbar will include an optical cable to connect to compatible TVs. ^Patty

Sub will be connected through Bluetooth, but the bar definitely needs cables. Good news is you will get three types of ports tobe connected. 1) the special cable that comes with the soundbar 2) usb and 3) sdmi. Hopefully your TV atleast has one of those or all three. Please check the back/side of your TV, if the Square looking port is present there, than you do not need to buy other type of cables for connections. Good luck with your new sound experience.
