Tv stations are scrambled and their box is the only one that can receive the information. You have to use their box.

You will need a cable box to descramble the signal but once you have that signal in your house you can send it to any TV.

I think the AD said streaming box or smart box. Not cable box.

I have a 40" Samsung in my other bedroom and it operates without a cable box. The only thing is you don't get the HD channels without the box, just basic cable stations. I have Time Warner.

Most cable providers HAVE used this method to force users to purchase equipment. No way around it, so i became the queen of Netflix
