• In the system section, there is a place where you can set updates to automatically be downloaded and applied. Of you can force it to update manually. You'll need an Internet connection (wired or wireless) to update the system software. Just FYI, out of the box, my unit did not need updating.

• If you have wifi in your home it will update automatically for you. If you call their support line they will instruct you on other ways to download updates. Its a smart TV so if you have wifi or a wired router you are good to go to get updates.

• georgie, The update can be installed using either an Ethernet connection, or by downloading the firmware and instructions from this site: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/UN48J5500AFXZA In the future, updates can be downloaded directly to the TV via Wi-Fi.
