unlike an AM/FM portable radio which has a ferrite bar antenna for the AM band, there's no built-in antenna in TV. you'll need to acquire either the digital version of the old-school rooftop antenna or an inside model that connects to the RF jack located on the right rear side of the set. it's highly recommended that one get the amplified edition over the conventional non powered ones because if combine that with some middle level HDMI cable it'll enable you to experience a higher quality picture with more vivid panoramic colors with more detail as well as being able to pull in more stations (with my $40 GE amped "rabbit ears" I can get 70 channels in my area of the city).
