You have to get a cable box. I had to pay for one too and don't skip the HD box because your picture and sound will be bad. I already tried the cheaper method, save yourself some trouble.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you are trying to get Comcast content...yes you need a cable box. The signal is scrambled. The only alternative is an antenna. If you live in an area with good reception you will get full HD over the air.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you will have HD reception without a cable box I'm financially challenged & use OTA on the top right side of the panel there's a box that gives you information on the broadcast you're watching including if it's broadcasting in HD & it's resolution.
