It is compatible. I've used Partition Master before for cloning.

Yes I believe this drive would be compatible with an MSI B550 Gaming Plus motherboard and you should be able to use it for your OS drive. As for cloning software to use I can't recommend one I've used because I actually had the Geek Squad copy over my OS and files since I took it to them and they found my other SSD I had purchased was corrupted and boot looping on startup. I had to get a new SSD but luckily they were able to save my files.
