after calling att support i found out since they just fully switched to 5g my unlocked s21fe was not compatible anymore. even though its a 5g phone and a newer phone, the model number from being unlocked is the only one of the s21fe that will not work. in there system it comes up as a 3g phone, which the 3g service has now been shut down. the model number "SM-G990U1/DS" is the unlocked version not compatible. i guess the "/DS" part of the number means its unlocked/open not duel sim. all other model numbers will work with ATT 5g
