“Why are these phones so cheap? When I get on this website, it's $200, but when I go to Verizon, it's $700. Surely it can't be so simple as "Best Buy can afford to sell cheaper phones". What's the catch? Who's soul do I have to sell to get this phone for a fraction of the retail price?”

The price on BB's site is for a 2-year contract with Verizon. The price on Verizon's site is for the phone outright, to be used on a month-to-month plan.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.99$ is the 2yr contract price. I had a galaxy 5 so I was eligible for upgrade after about 2 yrs. The only thing is that the price per line is 40$ a month instead of 20$ a month. The associate told me that's because I was in a contract, and Verizon was going to make their money back somehow. If you do the financing plan it ends up being just a bit more but not a huge difference.
