Yes you can keep your current number as you just place your present SIM to this phone. When I traded my phone Best Buy gave me a new SiM card but you have a choice to use it or not. You can use the new SIM but you have to call TMobile to activate that SIM with the same number or you can use your same SIM instead. I found this out when the new SIM wouldn't connect and this is what TMo Customer Service said.
