Have you tried changing the sound mode with the soundbar remote? You might find one other than standard which is more to your liking. Also, if your TV has an HDMI/ARC connection you might try that instead of the optical. It's possible that your TV might support better audio encodings over the HDMI/ARC than the optical connection. I have only used HDMI/ARC, not optical to connect to my Sony - so that is just a guess on my part.

We have our sound set at 35 and it is more than enough. I love to watch a great 4k movie and crank it up. Great. The one connect box auto connects. 4k blue ray player, a CD (yes) player which holds 400 CDs as soon as we turn any of them one is auto connects and adjusts the sound.
