Player supports atmos as long as sound output is set to bitstream and the disc has an atmos track.

Dolby is wrapping up the Atmos "objects" (the height information) into a Dolby TrueHD wrapper that works with existing players and receivers. When you send that Dolby TrueHD soundtrack out over HDMI to a Dolby Atmos-capable receiver or processor in bitstream mode, the receiver or processor detects that it is actually a Dolby Atmos track and processes the sound accordingly. Similarly, if you want to check out DTS:X (the other immersive surround format), then any player that supports DTS-HD Master Audio with bitstream output should work for that. In short, change the default audio output from PCM to Bitstream!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Dolby Atmos is a capability that your receiver needs to support. This player is fully capable of sending the Atmos audio signal as bitstream over HDMI.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You are wrong. It will support all forms of audio including Dolby Atmos.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It supports Dolby *atmos*
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Here's the deal: Yes, the unit will send Dolby Atmos data via HDMI Bitstream to a Dolby Atmos capable receiver. The problem is, my older receiver cannot decode Dolby Atmos although it does support two Height channels (9.1 total channels). I do not want to purchase a new receiver, I paid a lot for this one. My wish is that soon, a manufacturer releases an Ultra HD BD player that can internally decode the Dolby Atmos / DTX X data, and then send it to my receiver via HDMI PCM or analog RCA outputs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. At this point, (4/29/16) the only player that supports Dolby format (12 bit video) is the Pioneer Elite.(It is rumored to be firmware enable-able in the Sony player, but the Sony player doesn't play nice with non-sony tv's) The Pioneer Elite player is three times the price, so if price isn't a consideration...Then yep! Don't buy this player and buy the Pioneer. P.S. They sell them at Magnolia TV and Stereo, a division of Best Buy also.
