You need the Sony set to "HDMI Enhanced" mode in the video menu on the HDCP 2.2 compliant input that the Samsung player is plugged in to. This may require a restart of the TV after you change the HDMI setting. The player should be on 2160p, 4:4:4 output, Deep Color Off, and switched to User Mode with all sections zeroed out. User Mode is accessible when a disc is playing.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You may want to make sure you go directly from player to the TV while you are testing the picture quality. I was attempting to pass-through my Yamaha receiver and it was exaggerating the saturation and contrast significantly. ID4-resurgence was unwatchably dark.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I suspect when you leave the video output (TV size) to "auto" it may output at 1080p, but when you force it to 2160 (or whatever the highest is), it seems to upscale it. I have been playing with it back and forth and I do think it upscales when you force it to the highest setting. my old blu rays look amazing on this player and my 4K OLED. Not sure if it's the OLED, but I'm sure the 4K has some effect,
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Also, keep in mind all led 4k tvs have "fixed" resolution, which means anything played on the tv will converted to 4k (2160p). So if the external player has a worse upres processor/algorithm, it could be that sending 1080p and having the tv doing the upres looks better. This uhd bray will only, for sure, look better when playing native 4k content.
