I am going to say, "yes". At least as far as your source material and smart phone can provide. I use higher performance open-air headphones which in my experience far outperform Bluetooth earbuds. I am pleased with the results using this adapter. I found it to be a reasonably transparent compromise for dealing with the new lack of 3.5mm jacks.

The usb c to 3.5 mm adapter can take the digital signal from your phone and convert it into analog for your headphones, but the headphones even though wired must be active for this to work. In other words, the headphones have to be powered so the signal from the phone can be processed by the on-board electronics in the headphones to give you a Hi-Fi experience.
