If you used Windows Office, it will be considerably less files compared to just using notepad, because off all the bells and whistles that come with Office. This affects it much more than the actual volume of text.

A micro SD with a regular SD carrier adapter allows me to transfer files and the micro fits well into my Linux phone. Ask the Geeksquad when you go to buy one.
