“U3 enabled? It says it's U3 enabled, yet it doesn't come with U3, and when I try to install U3 from sandisk.com it says my flash drive is not supported.”

This appears to be incorrect as 'U3' is NOT indicated on the body of the flash drive. If the 'U3 Capability' is not indicated right on the body or case, U3 will not install.

U3 was originally developed to enable downloading portable applications to run from flash drives without installing on a computer. The U3 applications are no longer available to download. There is currently no SanDisk flash drive in production with U3 on it however we do have some models in stock which supports U3.
