It works fine on my MacBook Pro with a USB - C to USB - A adapter. I use it for Time Machine backups but haven't clocked the speed.

I do not believe I have ever gotten the promised “max” speed on the box. But it’s durable, water-resistant and small so I’ve allowed it some leeway.
