Yes, it is. That's exactly what I purchased it for, then ended up transferring the backup to a different drive because I was only using half the space. Enjoy!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use this type of drive (for my Mac) to run a disk utility program and also use one as a backup to the OS (only as a startup disk in an emergency). I do not use it as a backup for the main drive (which is possible with a large enough disk). To back up the computer I use an attached drive running a backup program.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can make this USB drive into a bootable drive, verify that you are using it as a recovery disk or windows install disk and not a recovery partition. Some mfgs have you set up recovery partitions and this drive may not provide that utility (space dependent)

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It said that it was compatible with Windows 8. I have 8.1, and had no problem using it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A 32Gb drive can be used. Your recovery creation software will tell you what size media you need. 16Gbs may be too small. 32 a bit to much but that your only choice. 32Gb is cheap and faster than all those DVDs. Go the flash drive route.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it is compatible, especially because is USB 3.0 it will be better and faster. You can make a google search and will find how to create the recovery disk for windows 8.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the drive will work well for this. The capacity is more than what is needed.
