• I use makemkv to rip the dvd and handbrake to compress the file to a smaller size and have over 100 dvd's on one of these. USB 3.0 is fast enough that I can play them from the drive on my laptop.

• This will work depending on what device you will watch movies on. Will work with a laptop/computer or any TV that has a USB port.

• I wouldn't know why you couldn't. I use mine for back-up, but you could use it for DVD's.
