• I've never had a problem with my seagate working with my macs whether it was mac specified or not. As long as you can download the driver you shouldn't have a problem. If one isn't available then I'd question it. Sierra hasn't been out super long yet, so there may not be. Check first, just in case.

• Yes, just format it to Mac OS Journaled using Disk Utility when you plug it in. You'll be good to go.
