Backing up my computer internal hard drive with Seagate 2 TB external HDD: Seagate external HDD came with "Seagate Dashboard" backup program already installed. I installed it on my internal HDD and then chose the options of files to be backed up. The software then took over. Since I chose all folders except 'operating system' for an initial backup, the process took several hours since the Seagate was connected to the USB 2.0 connector on my computer. Since then I have purchased a plug-in board (StarTech PEXUSB3S11 ) to supply a USB 3.0 port from the motherboard's PCI Express connector. This should speed up download by an order of magnitude next time I do a backup.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That's a good question. This product did not come with adequate instructions. I scheduled my backup for weekly but it would work. After many frustrating hours of trying, as well as, searching the internet I finally surrendered. I chose to click on all my file folders and "move" to device. I did this for all files and photos. It was manual but at least they are on the device now. Hope this helps you. I will not recommend this product to anyone else because it is just not user-friendly.
