You'll want to leave the switch in the "on" position, which allows you to control the bulb via the Alexa app on your smartphone or by voice command using an Echo device such as the Amazon Alexa Dot. [Please note: Because I'm not an electrician, if your ceiling light fixture is wired in a 3-way circuit (which can be operated from more than a single switch) I'm unsure how the bulb would perform.]
