The machine runs without a pad but as dirt and debris get in it will get jammed sitting at the entrance of the nozzle somehow while still vacuuming. Then a red light will show which means that it is blocked and clogged up or you have to charge it. You will have to disassemble it and clean it up which is really hard to manage cause there's nothing on the internet telling you how to open the main compartment. I still have not figured it out yet but with gentle care and basic mechanic skills you can fix it but do note red flash also means not enough charge to function as advertised. Those telling you lies such as the pad not being on stops it from working are probably shills for the companies products and want you to spend more money to them by buying a new one or send in for repairs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The pad contains the receptacle for the dirt so I don’t think that would work
