“When I turn on unit the CD player cycles. Is there a way to shut that off? I'm worried this will wear out CD player. Instructions don't give any insight.”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't think you can. It is part of the start up process. I have an older on that is a 240 watt system, and that one does the same thing.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Pretty much not going to happen. The system checks are built into the software. On power up, the software reads the whole system, not just the CD player. In the latter case, it checks if the five disc players are working properly and if any of them contain discs. Nothing you can do about it, I'm afraid.
