Does the Slingbox 500 come with the needed software for my MAC and / or PC? I am unclear if I must also buy software (an added expense). Please advise, thanks.

You create an account with Slingbox website and it plays on computers at no cost. Otherwise, it's $15 for Android device or iPad.

You do not need to buy software for the slingbox- all web based when you set it up. Once slingbox is setup and running, you can watch streaming video on any Mac /PC for free..... However, if you want to stream to your cellphone or tablets, you must buy the app for the device you are using, and it isn't exactly cheap...

The only software required to use your Slingbox with a Mac or PC is one of the supported web browsers, and a browser plugin that will be downloaded and installed during setup.
