• These shouldn't be used with a receiver. They are their own receivers and as far as I know, you need the TV on for it to pass audio to the speakers. Perhaps audio streaming from a phone or PC, but can't (for example) listen to a football game on TV with the TV off, like you can with normal receivers.

• The soundbar is "smart" so it can use wifi and/or Sonos app to play music independently from your TV.

• It works off of the sonos app. There may be a way if you plug the hdmi into a receiver but the arc only has one port
