Hello! I have both the Sonos and Echo devices. I can tell you that the sound is far better on the Sonos, but the Echo also does a great job. The Era 100 is not designed to be compatible with new audio formats such as Dolby Atmos or Spatial Audio, while the Echo has three mid-range speakers (left, right, and up), one forward tweeter, and one 5.25" woofer, and the Sonos has a more refined bass. At high volumes, you can notice a little bit of all the artifacts to control distortion on the Sonos, whereas the Echo is more bass-heavy but not unpleasant and is more suitable for urban rhythms. Personal recommendation: go for the Sonos and make it a pair.

Please try again later.While it is hard to compare the two because they are very different, in my experience the era 100 is far superior in its sound quality as a standalone, particularly when you consider how it meshes with the rest of the Sonos system. 1 vs 1 the era 100 wins, and that’s before you add it/them to a soundbar as a stereo pair or anything else.

One of which is called Trueplay (actively uses you iPhone or android device to listen to a pulsing sound to learn your environment). It also has a full equalizer, the ability to have any personal assistant (Siri, Alexa, Google), you can pair it to any music app (Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, Sonos Radio, etc.) and it uses Wi-Fi to play music so you can still use you phone to do whatever and play whatever else you want to do while music plays. Sonos is one of the only brands I have found where you can play any music at any volume and not lose any of the music or sound’s range that typically disappears with lower volumes on most speakers or becomes distorted at higher volumes on said speakers. Definitely recommend Sonos 100%. I currently have: Era 100 Era 300 Sonos One SL (x3) Mini Sub Amazing speakers that are very close if not better than my Harmon Kardon home theatre system and that’s saying quite a bit since Harmon Kardon is just about the best speaker building/testing/quality sound company on the market.
