“I need a wireless speaker for the boat, would Sonos work? I have 3 sonos speakers at home, none are wireless and all use home wifi and a bridge. Would this wireless speaker be useless for the boat? Once we are out of range of our wifi?”

Yes. The speakers connect to one another through a network that the bridge creates. Once outside that range...you wouldn't be able to use them for anything.

Please try again later.If you wanted to go through the trouble of putting up a hotspot on your boat it might work but I'm not sure if the controller will complain without an internet connection. You'd probably be better off with a quality bluetooth speaker and a pad loaded full of music.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe your home wifi is used only to connect to Internet audio sources not to drive your SONOS speakers. Your speakers would work on your boat but you would need to take a Bridge on the boat, Obviously you need 110V power source for them. You would be able to play audio from devices on the boat that store the audio on them while on your boat but not be able to listen to services like Apple Music, Amazon music etc. unless you accessed it from a device which has access to your wireless carrier; i.e Verizon and there service was avaialble where your boat is.

Please try again later.Sonos Play 1 requires a 120V power outlet; the device connects to any Wi-Fi network and will work if the network, have internet is helpful but not required because you can play music off a smartphone or tablet. Sonos will work on your boat if have Wi-Fi setup with a central router
