The Sonos can handle some pretty high volume without any issues. Depending on how big the room and how big the sound you are looking for you may need a few of them. You can also do some really cool stuff with more than one, party mode, or individual control. Different volume levels on each with them playing the same song or each speaker playing their own playlist independent of each other.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Please check my official review posted on this product on Best Buy's page for more details. In short, YES, definitely buy these speakers! I bought one of the Play 5 speakers thinking that would be it, then days later ended up buying two Play 3s, and three Play 1s, building a huge wireless system throughout my house. Now I have 50 gbs of music easily accessible from anywhere in the house that can be heard literally everywhere in the house (basement included!) The volume levels are fantastic - I did a side-by-side comparison in the store with Bose, and did not hear a difference. Even at the loudest volume, all of these speakers are crystal clear. They are all very powerful and I could easily have filled a room with a single Play 1, but since I was adding them all over my house, I bought several speakers in total. Sorry, I do not know how to describe the volume capabilities if you're looking for very technical details. They do have this product on display in the store (I've been to a few branches and all had them on display) so you can test them there. They are plenty powerful for a house party and the app and full fledged program were almost designed for this purpose. Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had several portable Bluetooth speakers, have had issues with raspy or tinny sound or just inability to get the sound you'd like for a large group. You have to know your space and keep in mind when you're testing speakers in a store it's no comparison to your home-stores selling these items are like warehouses with lots of extraneous noise. I am a huge fan of the Sonos Bluetooth speakers which were introduced through a best buy associate who has them himself..I haven't been disappointed and will but another speaker for another part of my house.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I recently picked up my second play:1 for a Halloween party. I'm in a NY apartment and had one in the living room and the other was in the bathroom. The two speakers easily filled the entire apartment. We streamed Songza Halloween playlists all night. Theyre discreet but have tons of volume and quality sound -- even streaming from online.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Most Best Buy stores should have a nice demo setup. I went to the store to check out the volume before I purchased these speakers.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sono is a great system. you can set up speakers in different rooms and have them set up to play from the same system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Play 1 is great because it's wireless and can be controlled through the app but in terms of volume they're not SUPER loud. The PLAYBAR & SUB combo is really loud and has a great app interface to adjust levels. For medium sized rooms the Play 1 is ok but the play 2 can seriously crank
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Find a show room that will demo the speakers for you. I had a pair of Altec Voice of the Theater Speakers back in the day. They were very clean and very very efficient. Cruise the showrooms and bring your music so you have a good reference point and not just the show off music the store hopes will woo you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This one little speaker is capable of putting out a lot of sound. Right now we have one in our back bedroom/office and when you get that going, even at 2/3 volume, it fills that room, plus the adjacent dining room and living room (500+sq/ft) with great sound. We are setting up a setup in a commercial space and in one room that is about 2000 sq feet we are planning on buying two of these little guys, and the third one will be in the other room that is about 600sq feet. They will fill that space even at a low volume after having this first one and experimenting with it.
