If you have 2 of the same speakers (2 Play:1, 2 Play:3, 2 Play:5), they will play in stereo if they are set up to play in stereo. If you have one of each, they will not play in stereo. They will automatically be set up for use as independent speakers.

Please try again later.Hi Stereo When connecting Sonos speakers using the app on your laptop or phone, you have options to create L-R stereo or maintain as separate stand alone (in diff rooms for example). Can go in and change configuration any time. Once you place the speakers, you can perform a sound test where Sonos automatically optimizes for your room space. These are great for small/med Rooms. For large rooms, the Sonos 5 option may be worth the extra bucks. Skip the Sonos 3's - sound quality diff not enough to justify price over 1's and price diff not big enough to justify savings vs 5's. Great sound. Enjoy!
