I can't really answer your question. However, I can tell you that I have had the 6700 and it is beginning to act up. Disc stuck in the player with player telling me that the HDMI is not connected. I upplugged machine for two minutes plugged back in and it worked. About sound I think you might be correct. The remote is not very efficient. What I believe is that it barely functions. I have Apple TV so don't use apps at all. Would I buy a sound system because sound is not correct. NO, I would take the machine back and ask why it doesn't raise the the sound level. Forget about Sony. It is Best Buy that can help you. By the way I hope you bought the 2 year protection plan because I doubt very much that any DVD or Blu Ray player will last two years. I will sum it up. If you had no problem with sound on your Seiki prior to buying 6700 then the problem lies with the remote or Blu Ray player and how it connects to your TV. I have a Samsung which is 11 years old. I found it easy to pair the Blu Ray player to the TV. However, when I click on the Audio nothing happens so I use my TV remote. Do you know that in Asia everything is paired and a person can use one remote and it controls everything. Be sure to buy the 2 year protection plan. Would I buy a sound system-no, not me. Mainly I use it with the sound of the TV or I have Stennheirser wireless headphones so I don't bother anyone. If you are able to adjust the sound with the Blu Ray remote then you are doing better than me.
