It basically fills in the picture while it is playing with extra lines of resolution & matching colors with the chip processor. It is hard to make a DVD player to play 4K TV's that weren't available commercially nor industry specs normalized & agreed to.. so the next best was to offer a processor to enhance the image of the media while it is playing. Hope that makes since.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There is a chip tech that boosts the lines of resolution. High Def is 1080 lines of resolution. 4K is very close to 4000 lines of resolution. The old tube TV's were the ration of 720 by 480 so the old TV's had 480 lines of resolution. Double (or about that) gives you the 1080 ration & doubled the picture quality which the industry named High Definition. 1080 x 3 is how the industry has gotten to 4000 lines of resolution or 4K.
