“I am old school have a collection of old DVD's and regular Blue Ray. Not interested in 4k. I have the Sony Model BDP-S590, which worked great for my needs but now is defective. My DVD's are freezing and skipping when played. Is this a good replacement?”

It will upconvert your current collection to 4k rez. It is small and will seem cheaper than your old player~ no screen, has a small, basic remote, but will definitely do the job.
