• You can but I don't think you have to. I have external amp and speakers hooked up to my tv and the HDMI connection takes care of everything so I don't have to run separate RCA cables from the dvd player.

• Hi Joffy, no, the setup you have in mind will not work. Our recommendation is connecting both this DVD player and your stereo to your TV. Sound will still output on your stereo when you use the DVD player. Thanks, -Mark
