We have not tried this type of set-up. Check the manual or contact the manufacturer or Retailer would be recommended.

Hi DMBDMB, Thanks for your interest in the STRDH590. You can connect  five speakers (two front
speakers, a center speaker, and two surround speakers) and a subwoofer to this receiver. However, there is no option to switch between two sets of speakers. I would recommend you to take a look at our Sony STRDN1080 for multizone features. Hope this helps! -Sam

Yes, they are split into zones. Zone 1 will be your main system and zone 2 can be outside or a different room. They both play independently or together. You can't go wrong with this receiver.
