No. You can not sync it with your Samsung television. The receiver will not turn completely off. However, when you turn the television off the led located on the left of the receiver will turn from green to red indicating that it is in rest mode and not receiving an active load.

I would imagine that depends on your TV, but my Sony Bravia remote works it without any issues
