When hooking up the speakers I had the receiver powered up the whole time I was hooking up them up and didn't receive any shocks. After I was done I noticed I didn't have the speaker button on the receiver turned on. Was there any current in those wires? null

I know what I should have done now, I am just wondering if any current was flowing with the speaker button off on the receiver.

Hi scbb,

It depends on the speaker wire you use but we highly suggest that the receiver should be turned off when connecting the speakers. Also, take note that Improper connection may result in fatal damage to the receiver. Check this link on how to properly connect the speakers to your receiver.
