Hi JimmJoe, Thanks for your inquiry. The STR-DH590 doesn't support passive subwoofers. The SUBWOOFER OUT jacks of the stereo receiver are designed for active subwoofers. Upgrade your home entertainment system to work with the latest 4K TVs and HDR picture. Equipped with 4 HDMI inputs, HDCP 2.2 signal handling, and a host of advanced features the DH590 is the perfect combination of high performance video capability and superb sonic fidelity. Regards, -Ralph
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I finally got to speak to someone at Sony. This receiver is INCOMPATIBLE with passive subwoofer speakers. They also said the output labeled "SUBWOOFER" actually is a "PRE OUT" intended only for active speakers. I purchased the Sony SACS9 active subwoofer and threw out my old subwoofer. The SACS9 hooks up simply with the provided RCA "audio/phono-type" cable to the STRDH590.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don’t think so I have a power subwoofer and it works fine
