If your turntable has a phono/line switch in the back, put it on the line option. It worked for me , I connected it to the SAT/CATV input. I have a Sony PS-LX300USB turntable

If a phono input is not available, the turntable must have a built-in amplifier or an in-line amplifier must be used to connect the turntable to another input on the stereo system. You may want to consider the STR-DH190 (equipped with PHONO IN jacks). Regards, Erin
