Sound bars are for the great unwashed who are not cool enough to have true surround sound.

We recommend connecting wired speakers to the speaker port of the unit that are within the impedance rating of 6 to 16 ohms. Hope this helps! -Sam

However I have connected my wired tower speakers to this low cost receiver and its sound performance is very good indeed. I replaced it due to my older ES Sony av/receiver not able to convert 4K images and sound but this little one gives me outstanding sound performance. Last night was watching Japanese NHK music program and Wife said crank the volume up so duly complied then brought sound level to around 65 and, behold! what a brilliant sounding performance via the Receiver!
