Hi Photosteve, If the receiver is connected to your Sony Bravia TV using HDMI cable using ARC on both ends. There is no need to connect an optical cable. All you need to do is turn on the Bravia sync on your TV and receiver. Check this link for more information. https://docs.sony.com/release//Help_4731210111.pdf (page 70) Regards, -David
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I watch Netflix using my Vizio tv, and at first, i used the arc connection. This wound up presenting me with 2 problems though. First, because the arc function automatically turns the tv speakers off (in the tv menu), that prevented audio from coming out of the digital optical output on my tv. So in order to watch Netflix and actually get audio with it, i had to watch it on my Sony 4k bluray player. But here's where the 2nd problem comes in. For whatever reason, when i watched Netflix like that, there was a noticable delay in the audio being behind the video. I never figured out why. My tv even has a lip sync slider? Not sure how that's supposed to work, but it didn't do anything. So i wound up disabling the arc connection and that seemingly fixed those issues.
