“I just purchased the STRDH590 and it seems like the subwoofer is not activated in jazz, hall, concert, stadiuim mode if LARGE speaker is selected in speaker size. Can we have the subwoofer output no matter what kind of speakers?”

As soon as you say “Large” it turns off the subwoofer. The subwoofer is a separate setting - either on or off

I would suggest performing an auto-calibration to allow the receiver to check the connection between each speaker and the receiver.
