Hi, there! We regret to hear about this. To resolve this issue, please make sure to properly perform the auto-calibration. Please refer to this link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4726/55cd375e0f9e7103f2b6baa747ed9072/47269061M.pdf And then, select "MULTI ST" as your sound field to output the sound equally on all your 5 speakers. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on the Media, but normally you would never hear people talking from the rear speakers.. A DVD or BluRay may have been made for 5.1 - that's 3 front speakers (Left, Center Right), 2 side/rear speakers, and 1 subwoofer. If the media isn't designed / formatted / created as 5.1 (or 5.2, or 7.2), then the audio will only come from the center speaker and maybe the front right / left speakers. Rarely would any media have rear speakers being used for peoples' voices, Surround sound is made to put the watcher in the same environment. If people are on the screen talking, it doesn't make any sense for their voices coming from behind you (i.e., rear speakers) when they are in front of you. Rear speakers are for sounds that are next to you, go past you, or behind you. Lastly, you will need an optical /digital source from BR/DVD player and/or TV to the receiver for it to handle the audio as it was intended.
