“I read an article about Fire TV Stick that said you can plug the stick into a receiver with video pass through? If this is true, which hdmi port would I plug it into or would it matter? I am guessing it would be SAT/CATV port.”

I have not tried this, but my guess is that it would not matter which HDMI port you plugged it into. I think the names of the ports are mostly so that the user can remember which one is which. I think there is also a USB output if a person wants to power an HDMI device as well
