Hi Moto645, I actually use them like this when I'm reading something I really want to concentrate on. Just put them on, hit the button, the voice will say "power on" and the world gets a whole lot quieter. I have them hooked up to Google Assistant also. There's an app for your phone that let's you do a lot of things. One is set up how much of the out side world you want to hear. Hope this helps. I love these things. Good luck with them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I too had the same question, you can use it just the NC without any music or connecting to anything, nut my experience is not all the noice is filtered or is super quite, you still hear the outside sound but at a very reduced level.
