A:AnswerHi Pacman,
Thanks for your inquiry. Bluetooth versions are backward compatible, which means that a device that supports Bluetooth is compatible with a device that supports a previous Bluetooth version.
However, for detailed information on Bluetooth compatibility, it is more useful to compare the Bluetooth profiles of the two devices. By comparing which profiles are supported by each device, you can determine how the two devices are able to communicate via Bluetooth. The WH1000XM4 is designed to support the following Bluetooth profiles:
-HFP (Hands-free Profile)
-HSP (Headset Profile)
-A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile)
-AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile)
Hope this helps,
-Ralph
A:AnswerI wish I had something compare for you, but I can definitely say that these are loud AND clean. The noise canceling is superb. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Hope I answered in a good time frame.
A:AnswerHi Mitsurugi,
Thanks for your inquiry. We regret to hear about what happened to your Sony MDR-XB950N1 headphones. The WH1000M4 would be a great upgrade and replacement. The WH-1000XM4 headphones offer further improvements to our industry-leading noise cancelation which results in exceptional sound quality and a massive boost in bass. It also supports powerful 40-mm drivers, with Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) diaphragms, making the headphones perfect for handling heavy beats. With the Sony Headphones Connect app, you can also tailor-fit the sound quality to your needs.

A:AnswerHi CapeCodder,
Thank you for your inquiry. The WH1000XM4 has an improved noise canceling function specifically for high frequencies. It is also very effective at removing everyday ambient noise. The noise canceling function works primarily on noise in the low-frequency band such as vehicles and air conditioning. Although noise is reduced, it is not completely canceled.

A:AnswerHi JC, thanks for your interest in the WH1000XM4. You can connect these headphones with a laptop and mobile phone that support A2DP (for music playback) and HFP/HSP (video calls) Bluetooth profiles. These are great for zoom calls and lectures. ~Ralph
A:AnswerIt will depend on which model TV and what the purpose is, however I can confirm a few things for you:
Yes, it can connect via bluetooth to a Sony Bravia X950G TV, however you will need to play with the settings to get the audio to sync up more closely to the video.
This is fine for something like TV/movie watching, however for gaming the sync will create a noticeable delay and your controller inputs would be off.
A:AnswerHi Tom, thank you for inquiring about the WH1000XM4 headphones. These are not hearing aids headphones. However, you can wear them over hearing aids. ~Ralph
A:AnswerHi Bryce,
Great news! These headphones can be connected to the Sony X950H TV via Bluetooth. Thanks for your interest in the WH1000XM4 headphones.

A:AnswerHi Jill, thanks for your inquiry about the WH1000XM4 headphones. Sony doesn't manufacture a dedicated Bluetooth headphone transmitter for TVs. Third-party devices may work. However, the full operation is not guaranteed. As an alternative, you can use the supplied headphone cable and connect it to the headphone jack of the TV is available. ~Ralph
A:AnswerYes just because your phone is plugged in and charging doesn’t mean you can have your wireless headphones connected and working through the phone.
A:AnswerThe noise-canceling on these is amazing. I don't know how loud the trucks can be but have flown on an airplane with these and I couldn't hear nearly anything.
A:AnswerHi Coldturkey,
Thank you so much for your interest in our newest Industry Leading Noise Canceling Overhead Headphones WH1000XM4! There have been some great upgrades to the WH1000XM4 from the WH1000XM3.
The WH1000XM4 utilizes DSEE Extreme (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) which upscales compressed digital music files in real-time. Dynamically recognizing the instrumentation, musical genres, and individual elements of each song, such as vocals or interludes, it restores the high-range sound lost in compression for a richer, more complete listening experience.
Also, the WH1000XM4 features smart listening technology to enhance your listening. With this, you can simply start speaking to automatically pause your music in Speak-to-Chat, or enjoy adaptive playback thanks to the proximity sensor and two acceleration sensors that detect whether your headphones are being worn or not.
Finally, we also gently adjusted the design of the headphones. We added more cushioning to the headband and ear padding. We also changed the outside dimensions of the headphones slightly so they sit more comfortably over your head.

A:AnswerHi Mrtbone, Thanks for the inquiry. These headphones can be charged via the supplied USB Type-C cable and a commercially available USB AC adaptor. Hope this helps! -Sam
A:AnswerIs it the same? No.
Differences: No more aptX support (inc LL/HD).
Bigger earcups, better shaped headrest for better comfort.
Additional functionality - speak to chat, auto pause, etc. Auto pauses when it detects that you've taken it off your head, tones down ANC when speaking detected (does a pretty good job surprisingly!)
More microphones for a better (slightly better over XM3) call quality.
DSEE Extreme (gimmick, rarely used but at least it's an option for poorer quality files)
They are indeed the same price. XM3s may drop in price from retailers (and they have) but the XM4s will retain the original XM3 MSRP.
