  • QuestionCan the new XM..5 headphones be used on a US airline traveling on a 11hr flt international. Do i need to have any type of cable to 'plug' in if required to use these headphones.

    • Answer 11 hour flight no problem at all. The xm5 is rated for 30 hours on a full charge, more if you don't use all of the features. Real world heavy use I get at least 25 out of mine. Re: plug-in, if you mean power, you need to have a USB type C cable to charge them, but again you should not need to for an 11 hour flight. If you mean audio, they can work wirelessly or can be plugged into an audio device with the included 3.5mm audio cable. I use these as travel studio headphones, plugged in more than wireless generally. Both modes are good, the fact that these have both was a primary factor for me to buy them.

  • QuestionIs their any way of getting around purchasing membership for the surround sound? I am not a fan about having a hidden subscription service that I was unaware of before I purchased the headset.

    • Answer Hi wking, There is no mandatory subscription for the 360 Spatial Audio software, but you would need to use a music service that supports that format. Those music subscriptions do have a monthly cost. Unfortunately, that isn’t something under our control.     • Answer As loud as is safe. Many people confuse loudness with distortion. The distortion on these head phones is incredibly low. So when you crank them up - they are very loud, but w/o distortion - like you will get when you crank skull candy headphones.

  • QuestionWhen I receive a call on my iPhone 12 Pro Max (the headphones are connected to the iPhone), every time I have to manually switch to the headphone. Is there any setting I could change so that the Sony headset automatically takes the call?

    • Answer Hi AKN, Sorry you are having an issue with your WH1000XM5s, this is not the experience we would like our customers to have from our products. If the phone and headphones are connected once you hear an incoming call. You can tap the touch sensor control panel twice quickly (with an interval of about 0.4 seconds) to receive the call. If that doesn’t work, try reestablishing the connection to resolve the issue. The WH-1000XM5 headphones rewrite the rules for distraction-free listening.
