Fingerprint scanner will not work. As for the Red variant, I'm not entirely sure.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is currently no announcement from Sony about a red model of this device. The fingerprint sensor is in the device, but it is not activated due to Apple or Verizon licensing issues. When these issues are resolved, Sony should be sending out an update to allow all previous Xperias with fingerprint sensors the chance to work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The red color is only available in Japan right nowbut maybe Sony will launch it in the US later on
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For legal reasons (I will explain), the fingerprint scanner will not work unless you flash the EU firmware to it. The reason SONY disabled it for the U.S. market is because, HP already has a patent in the U.S. for fingerprint scanners on power buttons. And so, to avoid paying royalties to HP, they disabled it; otherwise the phone would cost upwards of $1000. As for the red variant, it will only launch in Japan for now.
