Not all stores offer midnight release on all games. You can check on bestbuy.Com and search for what stores in your area are having a midnight release for certain titles and consoles. You can then pre order at that store and participate in the release.

I think the store managers make the decision on the midnight launch or not based on staffing and such. There is a tool on the Best Buy site to check if there is a midnight opening or not at your store.

Only some stores participate. The ones that do were announced way ahead of time. Next time make sure the one you would like to go is open.

You can check of the store will be open for special events by checking for events using your zip code for the store.

I think "midnight launch" is in EST. So in LA for instance, I went at 9:00PM to pick up the game. Also, not all stores were doing the "midnight launch" and you had to call or check online.

Always ask if there will be a mid night launch at least a week before release. Not every store has mid night launches and only certain games get a mid night launch. Usually shooters and fighting games get a mid night release.

You should have checked the Best Buy website. There were only specific stores doing a midnight launch.
