How is the volume and audio quality null

Not loud enough! Bought one today for my father who is in the hospital. He is hard of hearing and complains he can't hear dialogue, with or without the included earbuds. Shopping now for not too expensive external speakers capable of boosting sound. Failing that, back it goes.
