This one I bought is physical. In order to play it though, you will need an Origin account. Once you have that, you don't need the disc again, just access to your account. I suggest keeping the disc just in case something happens. For instance, I recently had to reinstall it, but I could not get the Origin launcher to work correctly. Using the disc I was able to get it to work again. Also, many of the expansions are not physical.
